This route was designed a few years ago when I was asked for a 400 with a manageable amount of climbing. As such, it has a lot more highwway than I would like. Most of the highway has good shoulders, except for some badly broken pavement on Highway 1 between Canoe and Sicamous and a short section along Mara Lake. The bridge heading into Sicamous has no shoulder. It has a sidewalk on the left side, but that requires crossing the highway twice. Be very careful however you cross it. There is a very ugly bit of road construction between Tappen and Salmon Arm. I managed to avoid all but a couple of km of it, but completeley avoiding it would have entailed a 14% gravel climb. Be careful. Mabel Lake Farms has excellent homemade ice cream, as well as other goodies. There are two gas stations in Falkland (335km), both of which close at 10PM.
