Another variation of the traditional Cariboo 600. This one goes through; 100 Mile House, then does a 100 km loop ; Ruth, Hawkins and Canim Lake. Suggested overnight at 100 Mile (Km 350). Very scenic return through Horse Lake to Hwy 24, returning on Hwy 5 Pre Ride Done May 25. Road shoulder is not great from Chery Creek to the top of the Deadman River hill- narrow in spots with lots of sand. Traffic was light enough to take the lane for a lot of it. Shoulder improves but is still chipseal. Eagle Creek Road had a LOT of broken pavement. It is easy to ride around the holes, most of which have been filled with gravel. Be extra careful if riding this section in the dark. Hopefully will be daylight- it is BEAUTIFUL! Canim-Hendrix Lake Rd. is quiet and VERY smooth. Forest Grove Store (KM277.8/327.3) closes at 8 PM. I had nice tailwinds until 100 Mile House on Saturday, headwinds for most of Sunday, particularly strong from Darfield to Kamloops. Lots of great baked goodies and sandwiches available at the store in Little Fort.
