- Conditions: Temps from just above freezing topping out at about +20C. Minimal wind, favourable more often than not. Some wet roads near Mabel Lake, but very few drops of rain. Overall possibly the best weather we've ever had for an Interior 400.

An updated version of the Mabel Lake 400, with a bit less highway. Lots of great rural roads. As usual, watch for potholes and sand. Note that Duck Ranger Road is PAVED, despite whet RWGPS says.
I found the traffic circles in Vernon a bit confusing, so watch the street signs carefully. There is a very dangerous railroad crossing at km 154 in Lavington. Be careful, according to the sign, stick-man had a bad crash there. Don't be like stick-man!
Lots of services available (except in the 59 km Lumby-Mabel Lake-Lumby section). Late in the ride, store closing times will be an issue for slower riders. The Husky in Salmon Arm where the route rejoins the highway is open till 11PM. The Shell on the left about 1 km further is open until midnight. If you expect this to be a problem carry some change, because there is a coin operated 24 hour water filling station one block up Shuswap St, across the highway from the Husky, next to Skookum cycle.
