Update Sept 23- I drove the other two gravel sections today- Campbell Creek Rd. and Blackwell Rd. They are in excellent condition!

I pre-rode the gravel portion of Douglas Lake Road on September 21. While there are potholes, washboard sections and a bit of loose gravel, virtually all of it can be avoided with a bit of creative weaving. I was riding on cheap 35mm tires, but I would not hesitate to ride it on 28mm if that was what I had. I have seen it ridden on 25mm when it was in far worse condition than it is now.  Lots of potholes and rough pavement in the first 10 km of Douglas Lake Rd, all easy to go around, but watch for hidden ones just as you turn off Hwy 97. I have not been on the gravel portion of Campbell Creek Rd. for some time, but it has never been a problem in the past.

A beautiful ride through Douglas Lake Ranch. About 25% gravel. The store at Douglas Lake has been closed the last few times I rode through. There is a small store at the Salmon Lake Resort (km77) and Old Moms Store -also very small just past the Douglas Lake Ranch village (km 106).  I checked both stores on Sept. 21- they will be open and have Gatorade, water and pop, as well as basic junk food- chips, chocolate bars and ice cream bars.  Don't expect substantial food. The store at Quilchena also has very limited stock.  The first half of the ride is definitely the most difficult, with the toughest climb at about 65ish km topping out about 11%. There will be no organizer support on route.

If you are feeling adventurous, feel free to use Old Kamloops Road along the East side of Stump Lake at 150km. It is 2 km shorter than the highway and adds about 21m of vertical (feels like more). However, it was VERY rough both times I rode it- rough enough that the cattleguards feel like the smooth part.
