This ride starts and finishes at Tim Hortons, close to Departure Bay Ferry Terminal, Nanaimo.
Bring a camera for the ride, as you will be passing many beautiful areas on Vancouver Island. The route heads up island, going through Top Bridge Regional Park and Little Qualicum Falls Park. Here, riders may need to walk their bikes on a couple very short trails sections before getting back to the road. Now a nice downhill leading to the coast. You will be riding through Bowser, Fanny Bay and Royston. When in Cumberland, watch out for Mountain bikers, they're everywhere. The route goes back down to sea level again with lots of ocean views.
Campbell River is your north destination. The route loops around before heading you south for the second half of your ride.
Recommend you check your water and food in Courtenay as some of the services maybe closed until you get to Qualicum Beach. From Qualicum to Nanaimo it shouldn't be more than 25 km between services (gas stations or Tim Hortons)
