Start will be in Sidney at Mary Winspear Centre.
Nick F. completed the pre-ride on Friday, November 7th. His report indicated positive road conditions. There were a few under construction but they were managed by flaggers with one way traffic. There was one location in Oak Bay on McNeil Avenue at about 132 km that required a slight, obvious detour around the block. There were a couple of spots on the Galloping Goose at about 35 km that had large puddles from the deluges we experienced in the previous days. Be careful!
Weatherwise he had a great day for November. There were many sunny interludes and only a couple of showers. Looking at the weather apps, there will be sun and cloud (limited chance of rain) and light winds all day!
Interesting fact we learned when doing the planning. Roche Cove (2nd intermediate control) is named after Lt. Richard Roche.
- The cove is named after Richard Roche, a British naval officer who served on HMS Satellite from 1857 to 1860.
- Roche participated in the joint military occupation of the San Juan Islands, which included Roche Cove.
There are two other new controls with connections to Remembrance Day.
