The Tour of the Bays attempts to take roads less traveled. Roads less traveled were sought in creation of the route.

  • The brevet starts in Mill Bay and works its way its way west to the Kinsol Trestle. Have some fun on packed gravel surface from just north of Renfrew Rd onto the Trans Canada Trail and the first 5 km of Mountain Rd.
  • Traveling through Cowichan Bay we head on to the “out and back” to Genoa Bay. Pastoral scenes and forest take us into Nanaimo where we travel along the shores of Departure and Hammond Bays. From here we move inland as we cross the #19 Highway and navigate around two lakes on the western periphery of Nanaimo.
  • Out to Nanaimo Lakes and back to Ladysmith. From here we retrace our steps to Herd Rd and our trip out to Gordon Bay Provincial Park on the south shores of Cowichan. Return through the town of Lake Cowichan and turn west toward Youbou where a control is set in Arbutus Park.
  • Return to Duncan and on to Mill Bay Tim Horton’s while you discover roads less traveled.

We look forward to seeing you on July 22; 5am start. Tim’s in Mill Bay is a 24 hour sit in restaurant. Parking is available on site behind the restaurant close to the wooded area.
