Pre ride notes

Update Tuesday July 11 from Township of Langley - Gate opening hours 7am to 9pm. Everyone will have to park elsewhere (see original notes) and then ride the few blocks to the start.

Check back on this page right up until Friday evening. Any changes will be noted here.

Paul Van Wersch and Dave King pre rode the Wamble on Sunday July 9. The weather was fantastic and car traffic, for the most part, was light. Mosquito Lake Road, despite the name, is a great ride as it goes on for a while and there is minimal traffic.

Key Things to Remember

Four things for you to remember: Your passport. Your passport. Your passport. Enjoy the ride.

Parking and Ride Start Location

Fort Langley municipality now closes and locks the gate to the Marina parking between the hours of dusk and dawn. The website shows gate locked as of 2300-0800 hours (11pm to 8am), though when we arrived for the preride (well before 8am) the gate was open. We will start the ride at Marina Park, but If there is any chance you will arrive back in Fort Langley after 11 pm (17 hour ride time), I strongly suggest you park your car on Mary Avenue, which is a few blocks south of the marina. If you arrive in the morning and the gate is locked, please use the suggested alternate parking. We parked on Church Street, just south of Mary Avenue, right beside a park. Wherever you choose to park, ensure there is no signage restricting parking. We will keep the start at the Marina as there is a washroom there. Stay tuned for any updates on this item, assuming I get information from the municipality.

Weather and Level of Support (None)

The weather is supposed to be hot again on July 15. This ride is not supported; there will be no staffed control anywhere on route. Plan accordingly for food and water. If you blow through Kendall or Acme without stopping, then between Maple Falls and the Shell Station just south of Bellingham your are looking at 73 km.
